Anthony Scarnato Jr.
President
He has a diverse portfolio of project types to include: educational facilities, financial institutions, civic centers, office buildings, multifamily housing, high rise structures and industrial facilities just to name a few. As the principal architect, he develops owner agreements with clients and manages the design team to ensure the accurate and timely completion of projects. He is a registered architect in the state of Texas.
Tony believes in a comprehensive approach to architecture, starting with the client’s needs, followed by the development of specific goals and objectives in order to achieve a holistic approach. This prospective carries through on all project phases and ensures the project is client specific.
He is intimately involved with every project from concept planning through the construction process. As part of the design process he ensures coordination of working drawings (plans and details) and specifications between architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical and other consultants; working closely with project managers to insure that design objectives, code requirements, budgets, time schedules and phasing are met. Tony’s vast knowledge and smooth management style make him an effective and respected leader at our firm.
Minnie Scarnato
Account Executive
She is our firm’s office manager / bookkeeper and makes sure our staff has everything they need to perform their tasks. Her many responsibilities include working with the team to help with billings, accounts payable/accounts receivable, payroll, communicating with outside accounting firms and overall office organization.
She is also the human resource manager, as well as, assisting with vendors, continuing education credits, marketing and proposal writing. Minnie is the back bone of the firm and ensures that DSA continues to thrive and grow in this competitive market.
Gerlach Laven
Design Consultant
After graduate school, he worked for over a decade in the private sector for various architectural firms. Projects included: public and private school renovations and additions, new office buildings, retail finish outs, customs houses, and several residential remodels and additions.
In 1993 he joined the development services division of the San Antonio Housing Authority as an Architect and Project Manager. Projects included but were not limited to: the management of the design and construction contracts for new apartment complexes, the development of a residential neighborhood, the creation of a learning center and countless renovations of existing facilities. After over a decade with SAHA. He moved to begin work at the City Architects Office of San Antonio Public Works Department. Projects included but were not limited to: the management of the design and construction contracts for work at: public libraries, the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, and over twenty fire stations.
In 2011 through 2022, Mr. Laven served as the Architect and Facility Coordinator for the San Antonio Fire Department. Mr. Laven’s vast experience and knowledge he gained from years of architectural practice and working directly for public entities, makes him in irreplaceable member of the DSA team. He places special emphasis on planning secure, comfortable, energy efficient, and extremely durable projects that are easily maintained using commonly available building components and equipment. His knowledge is invaluable and will heighten the design and value of any project he, and the DSA team undertake.
Enrique Villanueva
LEED AP / Project Manager
He works closely with the Design Architect to insure that design objectives, code requirements, scheduling and phasing are met. He has extensive production and project management experience and acts as the firm’s quality control review agent.
As a production manager working for an award-winning firm, he helps provide a unified vision to our clients and tailors proposed buildings for their environment and end users. He is an integral team member during the collaborative process and helps to develop all aspect details of the project, as well as, delegates responsibilities to the production staff.
Enrique is responsible for assisting with program items, schematic design, design development, construction documents and administration throughout construction. His extensive quality control experience helps DSA to uphold our long standing reputation for providing clear and consistent record drawings and to reduce the amount of change orders throughout the construction process.
Jeffrey Arch
LEED Green Assoc. / Project Manager
He has undertaken the role of Design / BIM Manager and is accountable for the coordination, production and completion of Construction Documents. Before joining DSA Jeffrey worked for a firm specializing in K-12 schools here in San Antonio.
The experience he gained led to his deeper and more comprehensive understanding of building construction and evaluation, design detailing, interior finish-outs, and project submittals. This experience reinforces the design and practice standards that DSA strives for on every project and makes him an asset to the team. Jeffrey also became LEED Green Associate accredited in 2019 and continues to practice and incorporate sustainability into designs whenever possible. He is also on the path to becoming a licensed architect.
